The latest issue of Best Car has coverage of the NSX from the Detroit Auto show. In this issue they spell out some of the specs, and thanks to DanielGR, we have a summary of some of the highlights in the article.

The specs on the table are for the regular NSX. Now that I can see the link in the PC I think anyone can actually read from the preview, but just in case: Dimensions : 4470 x 1940 x 1215 (wheelbase 2630) Weight (estimated) : 1300kg Engine : V6 DI DOHC Twin Turbo Displacement (estimated): 3500cc Max. Power : over 550 PS (engine alone over 400PS) Max. For the most part BestCar lists the specs that were revealed in Detroit, but they also speculate (wildly?) that the NSX will come in at 1300kg (2860lb). That figure is so tantalizingly low it's almost absurd considering the hardware the NSX is carrying. In fact, we have heard through the grapevine that the reason Acura has been sort of quiet about the NSX's weight is because it has actually come in heavier than they originally targeted. We don't know what the real figure will be but we have heard it is probably closer to the 1600kg (3520lb) range. BestCar also says that the NSX's twin turbo V6 will be responsible for "over 400ps" of the "more than 550ps" total output. While Acura has not officially announced a displacement figure for this all-new 75-degree V5 engine design, BestCar thinks it will be a 3.5L. Recall that the original NSX concept was announced in 2012 with a transverse 60-degree 3.5L V6. Since switching the NSX's drivetrain layout to a longitudinal twin turbo V6 configuration, Acura has been mum on the displacement of the new unit. This is purely speculative, but if this twin turbo V6 truly only generates around 400ps, then it seems reasonable to think that the displacement might be something closer to 3.0L, but we will see. We don't know Acura's specific output targets, but 400hp (or even 450hp) from a twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 isn't a very impressive figure (114-128hp/liter). The new VTEC Turbo K20 to be found in the upcoming Civic Type R will develop around 150hp/liter, so we're thinking the NSX's twin turbo V6 will generate a similar specific output. Which means it will either develop quite a bit more than 450hp or it will be around 3.0L. Again, this is 100% speculation based upon logic, so we could very well be wrong.

Also in the article is a blurb concerning the development of the NSX Type R. Here's the summary from DanielGR:

About the R-version. Development has already started, and it's expected to arrive 2 years after debut of regular version. Making it significantly lighter may be a difficult task, so more power is likely to be on tap (100 to 200 Hp). Body panels could be carbon fiber (as in the Nurburgring mule that was going around). Price could be in the 25M JPY class.
