Dual Clutch Tranny coming to the CB600F Hornet (599 in the US)?

Brenda Priddy's crew of spy shooters caught Honda testing a CB600F Hornet in Europe (the successor to the USDM 599) that was distinctly missing a clutch lever. Now either the test rider crashed and broke the clutch lever clean off, or Honda is applying their new DCT transmission to the CB600F. Unfortunately, we couldn't justify dropping the coin for these shots, so you'll have to imagine a camo'd and clutchless Hornet rolling down the road.

Currently the VFR1200 is the only motorcycle with the option of this transmission. The fact that Honda is testing it on the Hornet means they intend to offer the DCT across the model range.

For the markets that get the Hornet the addition of the DCT to a more mainstream motorcycle could be a welcome bonus. What is unclear is whether the North American market will get that bike. For 2011 the US is getting the CB600F's big brother, the CB1000R. However, there hasn't been any indication as to whether the smaller naked standard is coming as well.

If the Hornet did come to American shores it probably wouldn't be cheap. The CB1000R costs $10,999 so assuming the same gap in price between the CBR1000RR ($13,399) and the CBR600RR ($11,199) the CB600F hornet would be about $8700 in the US. Add the DCT option and you're probably looking at a $10000 bike. That's not cost prohibitive but at the same time it's far from cheap. There haven't been any rumblings of the Hornet coming to the US, but it's not a long shot, especially if its big brother sells well.
