When I first learned that the AEM's intake system for the TSX was a short ram, I was a little concerned. Based upon how some other short ram systems have performed in the past, I was expecting to be underwhelmed by the results.

In speaking with AEM about why they designed a short ram system rather than a cold air intake they claim that in their prototype testing that the CAS prototypes made less power than their SRS prototypes. In looking at the SRS design, it seems to be a fairly straightforward design, so it wouldn't surprise us to see more power developed down the road. AEM says that they will evaluate the possibility of designing a V2 intake for the TSX.

If somebody told me that following the installation of this intake and heatshield gasket I'd be staring at a dyno sheet showing the TSX putting nearly 186 hp to the wheels, I might have laughed in their face. To be truthful, I was expecting more like 178-180hp, but we were already there with the baseline run. It's not clear whether the strong baseline was due to a relatively strong motor, or perhaps the Hondata intake manifold heatshield gasket contributed 5-7 hp, but the AEM SRS picked up an additional peak 8hp to the wheels, and the quality of the product and the kit is excellent, so if you don't mind a more aggressive intake note (but only when you step on it), the MSRP of $331.25 (street prices are lower) makes it a good value, and you might consider picking up a Hondata intake manifold heatshield gasket while you're at it.
