Now we are at the hard choices.

To bore or not to bore, that is the question. The most recommended for a Honda block is 20 over (0.020"). It's not much at all. Stock bore for the Integra is 81mm. You'll be up to a whole 81.5mm when they are through boring it out for you. And since you are messing with the cylinder walls, you're also making them weaker. The first time, I said, what the hell, 20 over it is! But now I wish I at least pinned my block (pinning the block means to drill around the cylinder liners and stick bolts between the block and the water jackets. This provides additional strength around the top of the cylinder walls, a weak point of high revving engines.).

I just recommend sticking with a stock bore and getting a good hone job done. A good hone job is done by a competent machine shop that uses a technique called torque plate honing. The torque plate simulates the torque caused by the cylinder head on the block during normal operation. This allows them to hone the block almost perfectly cylindrical. A cheap, non-torque plate hone job could cost as little as $35. A better hone job will cost around $100.

Also make sure they deck your block. This is the process in which they take a small layer off the top of the block (usually 0.005-0.010"). This gets rid of any small anomalies and allows the head gasket to seat better.

The hardest choices of all: turbo, nitrous or normally aspirated. If you're going turbo it is highly recommend to lower your compression ratio to avoid detonation although stock is fine if you're going to stay under 10 psi of boost. For nitrous and NA application most people raise their compression, but be careful, there are many other factors that go into calculating your compression which I will go over in a bit.

Since I did not have the money for a turbo system, lowering my compression and killing all of my low end was out of the question! And since I blew my money on rods, nitrous was out. So I was just going for NA for now with the thought of nitrous in the near future and turbo in the way far off distant future.
