Why Honda?

People want SUVs, not sedans. Why introduce new hybrid sedan after another hybrid sedan followed by yet another hybrid sedan?!!!?!?!?

People don't want hybrids period, waste of time and money to build and offer them.

Simply put because they are needed. It's not like the Passport isn't coming soon. We are conquesting Prius customers with these units, it is awesome for us

And the hybrid sedans (Accord, Insight) and non-hybrid sedans (specifically Accord) would probably be selling better if they offered the practicality of a hatchback-style trunk vs. the traditional trunk compartment.

Should be selling a CR-V hybrid, HR-V hybrid.

That wouldn't conquest the Prius driver and you can't even imagine how expensive it is to conquest a Toyota customer as a Honda dealer.

See the move for what it is and appreciate it for what it is.

So Honda needs the Insight, Accord, and Clarity to go after the Prius.

What about the huge Hybrid RAV4 sales, Hybrid Highlander, NX...

I've been driving for 40+ years and have never owned a sedan, and never will.

Another note, again SEDANS sales are drying up. Prius is a HATCHBACK.

Why no HATCHBACK or utility vehicle from Honda?

Gotta meet EPA mpg requirements too to avoid fines

Honda has already said they're electrifying their whole lineup. The insight is also probably years in the making. They're not just going to throw all that r&d away

Why not? They had no problem doing it back in 2008 when they shelved Tier-I projects already in the pipeline for Acura...

No you need the Clarity and Insight to compete with the 2 larger Priuses...Priusii...whatever... it is working too even without a HB. These are units the dealers have been asking for.

The Accord Hybrid is to compete with Camry Hybrid of course... and it absolutely destroys it in a side by side.

Or just think Honda is stupid

Honda is stupid to put all their hybrids in the sedan category.

Hatchbacks and CUVs are the hot market. But you being a salesman I can see you needing to defend Honda's decisions.

YOU don't want hybrids.

Now go pester off or I'll open up the Hydrogen tank and use my Hindenburg as a blow torch and cook your Lexus.

Our Clarity FCEV is simply an awesome road car.

(so were our '14 and '15 Accord iMMD Touring sedans!)

If they could do the same to the Pilot/Ridgeline/MDX... put an FCEV driving four wheels.. and do it Clarity style... so that it can come as FCEV or PHEV or plain iMMD.... but with eAWD ( not eSH-AWD)...

The smoothness of the FCEV has to be experienced.. .and now that the hydrogen supplies in SoCal seem to have been solved, I will lose my Elle Est Noir to my wife again. Back to La Black Mamba...

When you make a hybrid SUV you're inherently throwing away a lot of the efficiency gains of the powertrain. A standard Rav4 gets 23 city/30 highway while the hybrid gets 34 city/30 highway, meanwhile the CRV gets 28 city/34 highway which gives it only 1 less mpg combined than the hybrid. I'm sure we'll see hybrid SUVs from Honda soon but introducing the hybrid powertrain on cars that can maximize it's efficiency makes the most sense.

The point about hatchback vs sedan body types is valid. Once you experience the conveniences of a hatch, whether in a car or a CUV, it is hard to go back to a trunk.

Many have already seen the pics of the SUV PHEV testing and Honda has said 20 times in the past couple years to expect Hybrids across the board in the next few years so obviously they are coming...

No one is turning any of the 3 cars you mentioned down. The days supply on these is absurdly low and the turn rate has these cars spinning fast... data doesn't lie... these are cars we need.

It would be nice to have a CR-V hybrid. It can be argued that's the vehicle Honda should have released for MY 2014, not the Accord.

Highway mileage is meaningless to me. I go for weeks and never get on an expressway.

I'll take the 11mpg increase in city mileage thank you.
