Produces 100 KW of electricity
First non-handmade FC
About 50% cheaper to make than todays FC

Use Quantum Technologies new 500 mile range tank
Nano-composite?
Same size or smaller than todays 300 mile tank

Will it be available nationally? Doubt it. Thats why the BEV version is important. Its probably cheaper to add a 220V plug to the garage than a Hydrogen exchange tank.

With 500miles of range and a refill time of 3-5 minutes, who cares about "home fueling"?

Besides, a 220V plug in the garage might not cost much, but $15k-25k of battery costs per car adds up quickly.

hydrogen availability will become more widespread if Class 8 H2 trucks succeed.

1. https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/hydrogen_locations.html#/find/nearest?fuel=HY&location=78633
The nearest H refill station near Austin,Tx is in California. Where is Honda planning on selling this "Flagship" again?

2. Whether one believes the BEV is step to or the end goal to alternative fuels makes no difference to me. I just know the BEV infrastructure at present is more robust than FCs/ Hydrogen.

3. When or "if" the major oil companies set up a Hydrogen fuel infrastructure at select gas stations "across the country" then FC cars may have a chance or even be in the conversation of mainstream.

That's the bit I don't follow, why are the petro companies seemingly "sitting on their hands" at the moment? Are they waiting for the introduction of a truly viable FCV before committing to spending squillions or do the truly accept their future is carless?

Other surprises?

On the product side? Or perhaps hydrogen station distribution across the country? Both?

Thanks. Great to see they are making progress with reducing cost and providing competition for BEV. May the best technology win.

Seems GM partnership is growing in other ventures. If this folds into zero emission autonomous cars I see a large oppportunity for FCV over BEV as they donít need to have these cars parked and out of service while waiting for recharging plus depleting battery life with rapid charging. This may also help push for greater hydrogen infrastructure.

Also read that GM is working with a partner for fuel cell tech to support auxiliary systems in aircrafts.

I thought this was an interesting take on bev/fcev adoption:

Well, there weren't any petrol stations before there were cars!

You had to buy motor spirit at your local apothecary.

It's a very expensive business and of course, local gov't bureaucracy is a PIA.

There are about half-a-dozen in various stages of planning in the UK.

It's kind of chicken-and-egg, with the H^2 car being the chicken.

Once there's a clear demand, it will become much more viable and they'll start popping up.

This is a colossal paradigm shift, since we have got quite used to being the oil-ape over the past century.

I realize they are independent franchises, but I've always wondered if Honda/GM could convince their dealerships to install hydrogen refueling stations. That would certainly make a difference, assuming there is enough hydrogen out there.

And it certainly would force owners to visit their dealerships perhaps weekly which ought to be good for other parts of their businesses, I would think.
