Hi Everyone,

It has been quite a long time since posting on this forum, but I have continued to enjoy all of the great discussions.

I am looking at purchasing a 2019 CR-V EX FWD. I am in the Chicagoland area and I have received the following price from a dealer:

MSRP of the vehicle is $28,295 (includes $1045 destination)

Sale price offered to me: $26,033 (includes destination $1045)

The price excludes tax, title, etc.

At first glance this appears to be a good price, but it has been a long time since I have purchased a new car. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on if this is a good price for the vehicle or if there is maybe more room to work with?

Good price. What dealer may I ask?

The price was provided by Motor Werks Honda and Valley Honda offered to match the price.

Iím in the Indianapolis area - my local dealer here (Hare Honda) had a good internet department. They emailed me a quote on my accord that was a little over 3k off sticker. You can request a quote from them online. They are quick to respond and you have a comparable that is in your somewhat general area in writing. They beat everyone I worked with locally and did not add on any stupid dealer stuff (fabric protection, etc). I had dealers quote a better price and then snuck in 1500 dollars worth of extras when I got there that I could not decline. So, I walked from them. Good luck!

How difficult is it to get a FWD version? Here in southern New England they are nonexistent.

I am wondering why you'd go with FWD over AWD in Chicago.

Not trying to start an argument here, but maybe he doesn't buy the AWD myth....

There are not many FWD versions in the Chicagoland area, but there are some. Many of the dealers have at least a few on hand.

I prefer the FWD model for a few different reasons even in the Chicago area. Not in any order of importance, the upfront purchase cost, maintenance along with possible problems later in the vehicles life, and I donít believe it is entirely needed.

I do believe AWD can be great in certain situations, and I appreciate the benefits an AWD system provides. However, I have driven a civic for years in some harsh Chicago area winters and the FWD has done very well. Also, I have read much of the testing data and I think a good set of snow/winter tires would be more beneficial for overall handling in inclement winter weather.

I hold nothing against those that prefer the AWD system. I have always admired cars such as the Subaru WRX in the World Rally Championship, and the street version looks very much at home on the road in Chicago winters.

Those are just the reasons I am looking at the FWD version.

Thank you for the information! I will make sure to take a look at them and maybe reach out at least for a price comparison.
