Neal crafted this rendering this week. He calls it the SSX and imagines it to be a "sub-NSX" performance luxury coupe along the lines of the Lexus IF-S Coupe, Jaguar F-Type Coupe, Audi's 2010 Quattro Concept and Kia's recent GT4 Stinger. Neal sees this SSX as a sort of an evolution of Acura's Advanced Sports Car Concept from several years ago. This SSX concept is not supposed to be the OTHER "sub-NSX", of which rumors have been circulating throughout the Japanese "scoop" magazines over the past month. THAT car sounds pretty interesting, with a rumored MR layout (one of TOV's own rumor sources says that Honda is planning to use the transverse MR chassis that was under development for the upcoming NSX - recall that Honda scrapped that configuration and now the new NSX will use a chassis with a longitudinal MR configuration).
We know, it's getting difficult to keep up, and if we are to believe these Japanese scoop mags, there's apparently a LOT more in the works on the Honda Sports Car front. With that said, we wanted to mention something that we heard from one source a little while ago, and then coincidentally, a completely different source tipped us off to the same bit of information today, which tells us there might be some substance to what we were initially told. And this is the fact that Acura is in fact working on a new luxury sport coupe. We have heard that they are benchmarking cars like BMW's 435i and M4. The latest info we received is that we could see this new coupe as soon as next year.
Note that this rendering from Neal is completely unrelated to this rumored coupe, but it was an interesting coincidence to have these renderings come in along with this new tip.
