David Undercoffler at Automotive News is reporting today that the upcoming Clarity BEV (due this Spring) will feature a battery which can only support an 80 mile range.

Given that the BEVs that seem to be generating the most buzz these days all feature 200+ mile range, this sub-100 mile figure is surprisingly low, but Honda explains that it is constrained by their goals of keeping the Clarity BEV affordable while still offering a physically large vehicle.

Honda will also offer a Clarity Plug-in Hybrid. There is still no word on the EV range figures for that model.

The Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan went on sale in December of 2016.
