Spied on the Street! 10th Generation Civic Si Sedan

Our friends at Spiedbilde have come through with our first look at the 10th generation Civic Si.
We haven't heard a lot about the 2018 Civic Si since Honda revealed the 2-door Si to the world ahead of the LA Auto Show in November, but it will be interesting to see how the specs shake out. With the Civic Sport 5-door rated at 180hp (and according to our dyno results, clearly delivering more than that), in terms of horsepower, how will Honda spec the 1.5L Turbocharged engine? We don't know the answer to that, but we think they should bring it to market with no less than a rating of 220hp, given not only their own model hierarchy (with the 300+ hp Civic Type R on the way), but to keep it competitive in the marketplace. Can the little 1.5L reliably deliver that much power, and even more important, will it be as underrated as the Civic Sport? There are clearly more questions than answers at this point.

This is the 2018 Honda Civic Si sedan, caught while out on a test drive in Urban Meyer's back yard.
The Civic Si coupe was previewed in November at the LA Auto Show, but the production version has yet to be unveiled. Based on these photos, the Si sedan will look very close to the concept when it hits showrooms. The wheels and wing on this version look a little smaller, but it's otherwise distinctive compared to a standard Civic Sedan.
Honda confirmed in LA the Civic Si would get a higher-performance version of the 1.5-liter turbo four offered in other Civics, as well as special styling tweaks, limited slip differential and active steering and suspension. Power figures were not disclosed, but bet on at least 200 horsepower.
The Si will be available in coupe and sedan formats when it goes on sale later this year. Expect a production version to be shown this spring, more than likely in New York.
