2004 S2000 "Driven"

 Credibility Rating: 10

The November issue of Automobile Magazine features a short review of the 2004 Honda S2000 in the "Driven" section ("Honda S2000: Honda's roadster switches from crystal meth to caffeine"). Here are a few of the changes for '04. Note that despite an increase in displacement, the name remains the same.

-Displacement increases by about 200 cc to 2.2 liters (+/-)
-Horsepower is unchanged at 240, and comes 500 rpm sooner at 7800
-Torque increases from 153 to 161, and is produced at 6500 rpm versus 7500 rpm
-Redline is now 8000 rpm, down from 9000 rpm
-Bigger wheels and tires: 215/45R-17 front, 245/40R-17 rear (versus 205/55R-16, 225/50R-16
-Weight up 24 pounds, due to larger wheel/tire package
-Gears one through five are now lower, but no discernable change according to author, Joe DeMatio
-"The new S2000 now launches with considerably more verve, and its power band is more flexible between 1000 and 5000 rpm. The car is also more civilized on the highway, partly as a result of a slightly higher sixth-gear ratio." But, "The new S2000 still lives for track time."
-Minor interior revisions include revised, thinner door panels to allow for more elbow and shoulder room, fake aluminum trim, and a 100% increase in the number of cup holders (to two)
