Our Friday was almost entirely spent on finishing up the cosmetics of our project Si. While the focus of our project really had nothing to do with the way the car looks, we realize that if you're going to display a car at SEMA, you better do something to make it look good. Of course, several of the modifications we've done to improve performance actually make the car look better, but stuff like vinyl decals and window tint lie strictly in bling territory. All the same, it's SEMA - if you're going to show a car there, you HAVE to make some sort of effort to differentiate the car from showroom examples, and our partner at instylegraphics.com has put forth a substantial effort in ensuring that our car looks great for next week's SEMA show.
InStyle Graphics' main location is on 4th and Western in LA, and that's where Harris Evangelista and his crew toiled on our car for nearly eight hours today. While they tinted the windows, smoked the headlights and taillights, and applied a few more vinyl decals, Shawn and I yanked the front bumper off the car and installed the factory accessory foglights. Oh yeah, you'll notice that the foglights are yellow, which is not how they come from the factory. Harris applied a 17mil yellow film to them as well, and we think it came out looking pretty swell.
Below are some photos documenting today's activities. Of course, the car has already changed a bit since these photos were snapped. And it might even change a tiny bit more before the show opens on Tuesday.
When the day breaks, we'll be loading the car up onto the trailer and dragging it east towards Vegas, and then checking our car in to the show. We'll file another update if anything of interest pops up.
