We just got an update from Automotive News that the 2007 Honda Fit has been named a finalist in the 2007 North American Car of the Year award.
The other two car finalists are the Toyota Camry and the Saturn Aura. In the trucks category, the three finalists are the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Edge, and Mazda CX-7.
Honda swept both categories last year, with its 2006 Civic taking the honors in the car category and the 2006 Honda Ridgeline winning the truck category. This year's finalists were determined from a pool of 12 car candidates and 14 trucks and are picked based upon votes by a group of 49 auto journalist jurors. Winners will be announced on January 7th during the press days at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
I hope I'm wrong on this, but I'm sniffing a victory for the Toyota Camry, if only for its staggering sales performance.
